Regulatory Reporting Service

We offer various regulatory reporting services, especially GHG and air emission reporting.

GHG

We provide GHG quantification, reporting, and verification under various GHG regulations, such as Alberta Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) Regulation, BC Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation, Saskatchewan GHG Regulations, Environment Canada’s Output-Based Pricing System Regulations (OBPS Regulations) and Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program (GHGRP), and US EPA CFR 40 part 98 – Mandatory Greenhouse Gas Reporting, etc.

Alberta TIER

Alberta was the first jurisdiction in North America to implement a GHG regulation based on cap and trade principles. The current regulation is called Technology Innovation and Emissions Reduction (TIER) Regulation. The reporting threshold is 100,000 tCO2e/year with option for opt-in.

BC GHG Reporting Regulation

BC is moving away from provincial carbon tax and moving towards a cap and trade system that is more in line with the federal carbon pricing system in 2023. The new system is called BC Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS).The reporting threshold is 10,000 tCO2e/year.

Saskatchewan GHG Regulations

In effect on September 1, 2018, the regulations obligate any provincial facility that emits more than 10,000 tCO2e/year to report those emissions. The regulations provide parameters for mandatory greenhouse gas reductions through output-based performance standards for industry, along with compliance options.

NPRI

NPRI reporting mandates that industries disclose data on numerous substances, such as air pollutants, greenhouse gases, and other toxic or hazardous materials. This information not only supports regulatory decision-making but also empowers communities, researchers, and organizations to understand the environmental impacts associated with industrial activities.

Clean Fuel Regulation

As of July 1, 2023, the CFR mandates a reduction in the carbon intensity of transportation fuels; suppliers and importers can comply with these regulations in several different ways, such as capture and storage, supply low-carbon fuels (e.g. biofuels), or supply fuel or energy to advanced vehicle technology (e.g. electricity or hydrogen in vehicles), RNG or H2 for vehicles.

Climate Lens Assessment

The Canada Climate Lens Assessment is an integral part of the federal government's commitment to integrating climate considerations into infrastructure projects. This assessment tool was designed to ensure that the potential impacts of climate change are considered during the planning and design phases of infrastructure investments.
